Invited guests including presidents from African countries, dignitaries, ministers, MPs and members of the general public have arrived at Kololo ceremonial grounds for celebrations to mark Uganda’s 50th Independence anniversary.

Pastor Wilson Bugembe thrilled the crowd by his famous song ‘Sagala kugenda mu geyena’. Others included Julian Kanyomozi, Jackie Chandiru among others put up great performances.

The Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly Margaret Zziwa, the deputy Chief Justice, Kampala Capital City Authority Executive Director Jennifer Musisi among others.

Many braved the crowd and managed to attend the once in in a life time jubilee fete.

One of those at Kololo told New Vision on phone, “Card or no card we were all treated like Ugandans. People have eaten pilawo (rice) till they littered the whole ground! It is euphoric. We are all excited. Oh Uganda, may God uphold you.”

Uganda’s security forces are all dressed in their ceremonial attires on parade.
