LostChildren: Story reunites Katongole with family

A story which appeared in Saturday Vision last week has helped Edward Katongole, 13, connect with his family. Katongole had been picked by a Good Samaritan who took him to Mulago Hospital to seek medical attention.

A story which appeared in Saturday Vision last week has helped Edward Katongole, 13, connect with his family.
Katongole had been picked by a Good Samaritan who took him to Mulago Hospital to seek medical attention.
A concerned doctor in Mulago visited Kabuusu, a city suburb and located Harriet Nakaweesi, Katongole’s sister. Nakaweesi, who is nursing the boy at the Children’s Ward in Mulago, said Katongole had been missing for two months.
“I reported his disappearance to the Wankulukuku Police post. I also placed announcements on radio, but did not get any headway, until last week, when his story appeared in Saturday Vision,” she explained. Nakaweesi says by the time he went missing, he had just completed TB treatment.
She says she has looked after Katongole from the time he was abandoned by his mother in Lwengo district at the age of one year.
Katongole’s performance in last term’s exams did not please Nakaweesi’s husband, who repotedly threatened to punish him. In fear, the 13-year-old left home and was rescued from the streets by a Good Samaritan.
Brothers lost way home
Brothers Raymond Kugonza, 8 and Gregory Rugarama, 6, are pupils of St. Thereza Gayaza Primary School.
Kugonza is in P4, while Rugarama is in P.2. As the two were walking back to their home in Kitintale, they lost their way in Kampala. They were sent away from school because they had not paid full fees.

A traffic officer who picked them at Oasis Mall, Nakumatt, handed them to the CPS. They told the Police that their parents are Drake Nyamugabo and Grace Birungi. Birungi is a teacher at Prosper Primary School in Kitintale.
Kasifa wants to go back to Yumbe
Nighty Kasifa and her three friends were brought to Kampala from Yumbe district by a woman they only knew as Zaitun.
They had been promised jobs as maids. Kasifa’s colleagues were employed, but the 12-year-old was not lucky enough to find one.

She told the Police that Zaitun abandoned her at Kalagi in Kayunga district. She was taken to Kalagi Police post and later transferred to the CPS in Kampala.
Kasifa was a pupil at Swahina Primary School, but dropped out due to lack of school fees. Her father is Siraje Rashul.
Goloba wants to go to mom
Isaac Goloba has been away from home for a long time.
The 11-year-old lost his way during the last holidays while living in Namasuba with his father, Dan Mafumu. Goloba had gone to church, but failed to trace his way back home. He was later taken to Katwe Police Station.
This week, he was transferred to Old Kampala Police Station. During school time, Goloba lives with his mother, Christine Nalweyiso, a teacher at Home Care School in Bulenga.
