Zuber, Kyomugisha win Entebbe Golf tournament

Juma Zuber returned 42 stableford points to win the Entebbe Chairman’s Cup golf tournament at Entebbe Club on Saturday.

Juma Zuber returned 42 stableford points to win the Entebbe Chairman’s Cup golf tournament at Entebbe Club on Saturday.


The handicap 28 golfer beat over 180 players to register his second consecutive win at the Club having claimed the Bro-Group tournament earlier on last month.

Palm Valley based golfer Meron Kyomugisha was also in fine form returning 39 points to top the ladies category in the one-day annual event.

Professional golfer Silver Opio had earlier claimed the biggest share of a sh5m kitty for the professionals after carding 148 gross over two days in the world's leading insurance broker and risk advisers (MARSH) sponsored event.

National team members preparing for the East Africa Challenge Robert Oluba (group A winner) and Andrew Byaruhanga (third) were among the best in group A.

Bashir Badu’s 41 points helped him to the group B prize while fourteen year old Godfrey Nsubuga from Lugazi claimed the group C accolade.

Irene Nakalembe fresh from a maternity break topped the ladies group A, beatin Eva Magala by three points while Resty Nalutaaya beat Prossy Zawedde by the same margin in group B.

Paul Mulira the chief marketing officer of MARSH presided over the prize ceremony and later handed over a sh5m cheque to Entebbe Club chairman Innocent Kihiika towards the developmemt of the club.
