The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has dismissed reports about a standoff between her and President Yoweri Museveni.
She publicly declared she has a cordial relationship with the President.
“There are people who want to drive a wedge between Parliament, the Executive, the Speaker and the President,” she said while addressing people at a fundraising drive for the completion of various projects at St. Peter Kanyaryeru Church of Uganda.
About the current standoff between the Legislature and the Government over the budget allocation to the health sector, Kadaga said the Parliament has a majority of NRM members and what MPs were doing was to assist the head of the party to improve service delivery to the people.
“There has been a ban on recruitment of health workers for so long,” she said Kadaga contributed shs3m at a fund-raiser which raised shs70m both cash and in pledges for projects which also include the construction of offices for Compassion and a priest’s house.
The Nyabushozi MP, Col. Fred Mwesigye who organised the occassion said about shs117m is required.
