Kyambogo University students started to report back as the university reopened Monday with lectures expected to start today.

Some students especially first years who had barely studied for two weeks prior to the closure of the university were stranded at various faculties as lecture rooms were either closed or being cleaned.

“I know from tomorrow onwards, we shall be subjected to intense pressure to cover for the lost time,” said Fiona Ndagire, a student of Bachelor of Administrative and Secretarial Science on Monday.

The university officially reopened Monday afternoon at 2:00pm during a staff meeting in the main hall.

Kyambogo was closed on last month, August 30 following a sit-down strike by the academic staff which started on August 23.

The strike was triggered by unfulfilled demands for vice chancellor Prof. Isaiah Omoro Ndiege to step aside to pave way for investigations into alleged mismanagement of the university affairs.

The university council reopened the institution after sending Omoro on a forced leave.
