The Nubian community in Uganda should no longer be treated or referred to as foreigners, but citizens of Uganda.

The third deputy Prime Minister, Gen. Moses Ali, made the observation while meeting the Nubians in Fort Portal, Kabarole district on Saturday.

“The Nubian community is one of the communities in the Constitution of Uganda. Having stayed here for 100 years, you are now Ugandans,” Ali said.

He commended the Nubians in Toro sub-region for living in harmony with the host tribes.

The chairman of the Nubian community in Toro, Yazeed Sebbi, said they number about 10,000 in the region.
