Nanyondo will compete in the semi - final on Thursday
Veteran coach Absolom Ojwang is one of those who believe the sky is the limit for Nanyondo.
“She might be lacking in physique, but she has that rare mix of speed and stamina that would be every medium and long distance athlete’s envy,” stated Ojwang at been a recent national trial.
She easily passes unnoticed. Standing at just five feet, it takes a lot of convincing to accept that this small bodied runner is actually one of Uganda’s best talents.

No wonder Nanyondo had initially been also entered in the 1500m. As for her speed, she will have more use for her fast strides in the women’s 4x 400 relay at the weekend.
There will also be table tennis action at the Scotoun complex with Uganda taking on Ghana in women’s doubles. Uganda will also be in action in the badminton round of 16.
