Police in Lukaya have in custody an 18-year old bride after her husbdand accused her of fleeing with his property including land titles.

The suspect, Mwajuma Nanyombi, was arrested after the complainant, Juma Muyomba, 45, filed a case of theft against his one-month old bride.

The Lukaya CID boss, Anna Tukamuheebwa, said Muyomba had only been with his bride for a month after paying dowry to her parents who reside in Kiti village, Bukulula sub county, Kalungu district.

He said Mwajuma claimed that she was only forced to marry Muyomba.

The Police chief said they were stunned when Mwajuma told them that her parents connived with Muyomba and forced her to terminate a three-months pregnancy so she could be given away to him before she was forcefully made to her leave her boyfriend.

Mwajuma, while in police custody challenged Muyomba saying he was crafting false charges against her because she did not love him.

“How would you know that the child you made me abort was the only one God would give me?”

Her case on file number SD:10/09/07/2014 was forwarded to Buddo police station for investigation.
