Sports films vie for honours at film fest

TWELVE Ugandan sports film entries will be battling a total of 52 at the sixth edition at the Kampala International FICTS sports film festival that launched on August 14 at Seascallop restaurant in Kamwokya.

It will only be befitting for Uganda to win in one of the six catergories as we celebrate 50 years of Independence.

The three day film festival that ends August 16 was opened by Buganda sports minister Herbert Semakula and was attended by members of the press FICTS officials that included the organising chairman Andrew PatricK Luwandagga and members of Uganda Olympic Committee.

Ugandan enteries have been winning accolades at the Grand Finals in Milan, Italy the headquarters of the Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs(FICTS) and will be looking to continue that trend this year.

This year the world sports film festival body will be celebrating 30 years of existence and will be hold two grand finals in the city of Beijing,China and Milan in October and November respectively.

This year's Kampala edition has seen entries from DR Congo,(1),South Africa(2),Kenya(1),Rwanda(3),hosts Uganda(12), while the rest of the world has sent 31.
