Busoga Council dissolved itself to allow elections to be held for a new council. September 27 was proposed as a date for elections in a resolution passed unanimously.

Busoga Council dissolved itself to allow elections to be held for a new council. September 27 was proposed as a date for elections in a resolution passed unanimously.

John Ridley, the Jinja Town clerk was proposed for election supervisor and nomination day was September 5

The new council would have 67 directly elected members, 6 especially elected members and 11 Saza chiefs .The chiefs were allowed to vote, except on a motion of confidence in the government and on financial matters.
