The three suspects from ministry of health arrested over Global Fund mismanagement last week have been granted police bond pending further investigations.

Bosco Agaba a programme officer at Malaria Control Programme, Mary Byangire Sendi, a senior health educationist and Conie Balayo Muzaki, a senior health environmentalist are accused of misappropriating sh78b.

The CID director Grace Akullo said the suspects were released to allow police to further investigate the matter.  She said the police are drawing up charges of abuse of office, false accounting and causing financial loss.

Akullo said several documents have been discovered showing false accountability which needs to be thoroughly investigated since the accused have denied the claims.

“The accountability shows money was spent in different parts of the country but there is nothing to show how it was spent.  We have dispatched teams of investigators to follow up these claims,” Akullo said.
