You probably know Moses Golola as the motor-mouthed kickboxer, who makes lots of threats before the match, but fails to live up to his words. He has much  more to his name, as Harriet Birungi found out

Behold, Moses Golola of Uganda!
Another media person? I am irked by the media for trying to put me down. I have struggled to get kick boxing taken seriously in this country, but what is the media saying? That I could serve well as a bouncer or comedian. Instead of commending me, you are just pulling me down.

Sorry about that. But can we talk about your other life? The man who looks at women and they get pregnant. Are you in a relationship?
I am not. I am looking for a woman who can understand me. Relationships call for a lot of responsibility. I do not want my children to go to UPE schools. I also need a bigger house. I will put relationships on hold until I make enough money. Every man needs a strategy, before getting a woman. I am fighting to get money.

About how many years will that be?
My dream is to become a world champion. Currently, I am preparing for a rematch with Mate Zamboki. Once I beat him, I will build a house within one year, then find a woman to date, before settling down.

Which tribe do you hope to marry from?
Tribe does not matter. All I want is a wise woman, who will give me wise children. A stupid woman can ruin your children. I want a woman who can help me increase my earnings, not one who will just sit at home, arranging jerrycans, slippers and changing seat covers. I want a hardworking woman. You see, behind every successful man, is a woman. Since I am not educated, I want someone who can help me write proposals, not one who will carry me on her lap and make me her baby. She should also be able to stick with me, despite my shortcomings.

Have you been in a relationship before?
Yes, but the woman could not understand me. I was poor, which she could not stand, so she left. She did not see my future as a celebrity, yet I am not the type who wants to show off. A woman should be the number one manager, marketer and fan of her husband.

Don’t you think the way you talk scares off women?
No. I am a romantic man and I tell a lot of jokes. I have the energy and muscles that women love. Women are attracted to my body. I have a lot of love in me and know how to handle a woman.

So, who was the mzungu lady in your company at the Bika Football opening?
Hahaha. She is my consultant manager and you will be seeing her a lot. I have been ripped off from the stigma to the anther, but with her managing my work, things will be better. Originally, she wanted to help me fix matches abroad, but was shocked to find that I had such a large following here. So, we shall be working together.

And you were chauffeured in a government car?
Am I not a national figure? But don’t get scared, it happened only once.  All you need to know is that I have the country at heart.

Would you beat a woman if she annoyed you?
No! I would not even raise a hand at her. Sometimes women can tempt one to beat them, but I cannot. If I can inflict great pain on a trained boxer, what would you expect if I hit a woman? It would be an unpleasant sight seeing a beautiful woman with a swollen eye. No! I cannot beat a woman.

Would you marry a boxer?
Yes, but it is not easy to find one, unless I go abroad. But such women are not willing to be mothers. I want a woman who can take care of the family while I am away. But I would love someone who has a passion for the sport, one who will let our children do kickboxing.

So, you want your children to learn kickboxing?
Oh yes. I would take them for training and be their agent because I know the sport.

Do you have children?
Remember I am the man who looks at a woman and she gets pregnant (laughs!). I have one child, but I separated with the mother a long time ago. She left because I was poor and life was hard. I will try to care for her when I am better off, but we are not getting back into a relationship.

Which woman in Uganda do you admire?
No one. I want someone who has done something to improve the lives of other people. Artistes sing about their feelings, while politicians are motor-mouthed. But they do not do anything extraordinary.

What do you do during your free time?
I sit alone and meditate to refresh my inner self. I also try to better myself by reading and researching. Ignorance is the major cause of poverty, that is why whites are far ahead of us; they search for knowledge, while here, we spend a lot of time shouting and going to parties to spend our hard-earned money. But when I go out, I enjoy slow and live music performances.
