REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI) FOR BUSINESS INCUBATION IN ESSENTIAL OIL PRODUCTION.
Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (MTIC) was established as a semi-autonomous body by a 2002 Act of Parliament. The decision to establish UIRI arose from the need for an effi cient and user-responsive agency that would be at the forefront of the country’s industrialization.
A project on essential oil production that focuses on the development of the entire value chain is being implemented at UIRI. It shall involve developing several pilot agronomic sites in Uganda consisting of five suitably selected essential oil plant varieties.
The project will be a platform to generate data on crop yields, quality and marketability of essential oils in the country. The information will be used for future decisions on rolling out the cultivation and processing specifi c plant species for commercial purposes in Uganda.
