Ngaimoko gets another chance

Sprinter Ali Ngaimoko has been given another chance to try and  make it to the London 2012 Olympic Games after he was invited to take part in the2nd edition of the CAA grand prix due in Ghana on Friday.

The international athletics competition is due at Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi and will offer the regional athletes an opportunity for a last test ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games due later this month.

Ngaimoko, who has a good run was short of the 45.90s Olympic qualifying time in the 400m  by 0.8seconds  and after his run, he caught the attention  of Sarah Nambawa’s coach Andrew Owusu, who invited him for the  continental grand prix.

Owusu is a member of both the Ghana Olympic Committee and their national athletics federation. Ngaimoko will now  be connecting  to Ghana with the national team to see that his dream is realised.

He will join Sarah Nambawa, who will also be competing in the Grand Prix. “It is another opportunity and after failing to hit the mark here, I will give it my best,” said Ngaimoko after receiving the good news.

The  national athletics federation president Dominic Otuchet has already cleared him to travel to Ghana. The grand prix organisers will pay all the extra flight expenses for Ali on top of getting a chance to win a  cash prize if he wins his event. The winner walks off with about sh2m in an event were the top three runners are rewarded.

The event is set to attract athletes from France, USA, Benin, Uganda, Burkina Faso, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Latvia, Haiti, Nigeria and Ethiopia.
