Q: Dear Doctor,
My Vagina Itches and produces smelly, creamy and yellowish fluids. At times after bathing the discharge soils my panties. What can I do?

A: Dear Anonymous,
A certain amount of vaginal discharge (mucus produced) is normal. The vaginal walls and uterine cervix contain glands that produce a small amount of fluid that helps to keep the vagina clean. This fluid is usually clear or milky white and does not have a horrible smell.
Increase in the amount of vaginal discharge, an odd smell or consistency of the fluid, pain, itching and burning that accompanies vaginal discharge can all be symptoms of infection or other more serious disorders. Your description could point to gonorrhea, genital herpes, yeast infection or candidiasis, among other sexually transmitted and bacterial infections.
Also, make sure your private parts are kept in good hygiene. See a physician for proper examination and treatment.
