Robert Ssentongo, whose lone goal handed URA FC their second Bell Uganda Cup trophy since 2005, is determined to help the tax collectors win the Uganda Super League as well.

Ssentongo struck from a free-kick outside the box early in the final which URA defended to the last whistle at Pece Stadium in Gulu on Saturday.

In fact Ssentongo heeded to his coach Alex Isabirye’s advice for the players to avoid wild celebrations lest the side loses concentration as they bid to retain the Super League title. URA take on Proline FC in the league at Nakivubo stadium on Tuesday (tomorrow).

“I have scored crucial goals before and remember the season has not ended. I do not want to lose my focus. We have the league to win,” Ssentongo said.

Simeon Masaba, who captained URA to the Cup victory in absence of injured Manco Kaweesa said that they were still hunting for more glory.

“I was very sure this is our turn to win the Cup, so I had to talk to the players to keep our focus and complete the task. We cannot go wild with celebrations just because we have won the Cup. We need the double this year,” Masaba said.

FUFA vice president Mujib Kasule handed over the Cup to Masaba.

URA leads the Super League table with 47 points in 23 matches with two games in hand just like second placed Express and Proline who lie fourth. Express FC travel to Victors FC in Kakindu.

Proline held URA to a 2-2 draw in the first round and the last time Proline hosted a match at Nakivubo, they mauled Busia-Hoima 8-1 while URA FC defeated the same team 2-1 in Bugembe.

Proline coach Abdallah Mubiru believes they are capable of downing the champions when they meet tomorrow afternoon.

Meanwhile, Proline is adamant they will not honour their refixed encounter with Water FC.

They have instead demanded that the competitions committee awards them three points since it is Water that failed to raise a full team for the match that aborted.
