Prof. Kajubi's burial for Saturday

Prof. William Sentenza Kajubi a teacher, academician and an administrator will be missed, Minister of Information and National Guidance, Mary Karooro Okurut has said.

Prof. Senteza Kajubi who died on Tuesday will be laid to rest at their ancestral home at Maya, off Masaka road on Saturday.

The spokesperson of the deceased family Prof. Paul Edward Mugambi said burial will be preceded by a funeral service at Namirembe cathedral on Friday in the afternoon, at about 3pm and vigil will be held overnight at the family home in Bugolobi.

Prof. Senteza aged 85 years collapsed in the bathroom at his home, on Tuesday and was pronounced dead at Mulago Refferal Hospital.

"Kajubi was one of the greatest scholars Uganda has produced. On behalf of government, we wish to convey our condolences to the bereaved family and friends of the Professor,'' Karooro said.

"His contribution to our education sector is invaluable. Over the years, the late professor played critical roles in the development of the sector and academics of Makerere, Kyambogo and Nkumba Universities. He also was instrumental in shaping Uganda's education system, in particular Universal primary Education (UPE).''

She said it was so unfortunate the professor who chaired the committee that adopted the national flag in and served on the committee that selected the National Anthem in 1962died at the time when Uganda is preparing to mark its 50th Independence anniversary. "As we celebrate Uganda's Golden Jubilee we should salute his contribution to the journey of our independence.''
