April 21 Elgon Cup, Kyadondo
Uganda v Kenya
NATIONAL women 15s rugby team coach has recalled Beatrice Atim and Fortunate Irankunda to strengthen his 8th woman position Centre and Prop respectively ahead of the Elgon Cup first leg against Kenya at Kyadondo rugby ground next Saturday.
Coach Brian Makalama had dropped the duo from the squad citing irregular attendance of training that started a month ago.
“It’s true they were given another chance to prove them-selves but with caution. I don’t care how good you were last year or the previous tournament once you don’t show seriousness during training then you are dropped,” Makalama stated.
The Lady Rugby Cranes are looking forward to reclaim the title they last won in 2008 when they defeated Kenya 18-17 in the final held in Kampala.
Makalama added that he is fine tuning his final squad of 26 and was optimistic the girls will deliver.
The final 26 woman squad includes; Christine Kizito, Rosenburg Kanyunyuzi, Warry Nambirige, Evelyn Aweku, Hellen Gizamba, Winnie Atyang, Loy Mbabazi, Josephine Namayega, Ann Sizomu, Regina Athieno, Harriet Kayonjo, Hadija Namuyanja and Claire Anena.
