The Katikkiro of Buganda JB Walusimbi Monday officially announced to Buganda Lukiiko (parliament) the birth of a second son of the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.

The Katikkiro said the boy’s name is Richard Ssemakookiro born last year. Kabaka’s first born is Prince Jjunju Ssuuna Kiweewa.

The announcement was greeted by deafening applause from Lukiikio members and the enthusiastic Baganda in the gallery. Walusimbi however, did not reveal details of who the mother of the Prince is.

Ssemakookiro is the fifth child of the Kabaka after Prince Jjunju and Princesses; Joan Nassolo , Victoria Nkinzi  and Sarah Katrina Sangalyambogo.

New Vision early this year broke the news about the birth of the Prince.

Katikkiro also informed the Lukiiko that the Kabaka renewed his contract for another four-year term.

He thanked the Kabaka for having entrusted him to serve for another term calling upon people in Buganda to unite for development of the kingdom.

In his second tenure in office, the Katikkiro pledged to focus on the reconstruction of burnt Kasubi royal tombs.

He said sh750m has already been collected for the reconstruction. Walusimbi said more money is still required urging well-wishers and Baganda to donate towards this cause.
