Legislators from Buganda meet Katikkiro (Premier) J.B. Walusimbi today (Wednesday) at the Buganda kingdom headquarters Bulange Mengo a Kampala suburb.

Mityana North MP Godfrey Kiwanda, the chairperson of the Buganda Parliamentary caucus told New Vision that talks to mediate between the kingdom and the central government is top on the agenda.

He also said that the caucus will use the opportunity to present the new leadership to Katikkiro. Buganda Parliamentary elected Mukono Municipality MP Bety Nambooze vice, Deogratius Kiyingi treasurer and Nalongo Bugembe secretary.

Buganda MPs last held talks with Katikkiro in September last year and resolved to speak with a unified voice on kingdom issues regardless of their political affiliations.

They apologized to the Katikkiro for having been divided over trivial issues to the detriment of the people in Buganda.

They promised to cooperate with the Mengo establishment to set up a viable project that will help out Kabaka’s subjects.

Walusimbi who invited the MPs regretted the divisionism amongst Buganda MPs especially when it comes to decisions on Buganda issues.

Walusimbi appealed to MPs to always work for the people who trusted them into office and to specifically find solutions to the rising price commodities.

He asked them to lobby for a federal system of governance; which he said would end the imbalance in resource allocation, the return of the kingdom assets among them the 9000 square miles, wetlands and forests and rent arrears government owes the kingdom of sh20bn.
