CARITAS United States (US) a religious Charity organization has supported over 246 orphaned children in Nkokonjeru, Buikwe district.
The support includes books, scholastic materials and construction of learning center. Caritas for Children, US, executive director, Christopher Hoar, Officially handed over Sh200m learning centre at Nkokonjeru, Buikwe district on Sunday, Feb, 05, 2012.
The learning center is part of assistance rendered to disadvantaged children under the care of Caritas for Children Uganda. Hoar said that charity started to support the organization for the past few years after realizing that many children in the area had dropped out of the school. “We are told the situation of the children in African especially in Uganda was appalled. I decided to come to this country and support them through education sector, “he said.
The Director of the Caritas for children Uganda, Sr. Immaculate Nabukalu hailed the organizations for supporting and aid orphaned children in the country.
She said that the two organizations have worked in partnership in helping the young generations achieve their education needs. “We want to hail organizations like Caritas who have come up with projects like construction of learning centers and even support need children by availing them school fees among others, “she said .
The project coordinator, Joseph Konde hailed the donating community for supporting the education of the poor children in the country. “We want to hail the donors community for extending the assistance to the orphans in the country particularly in education sector, “he said.
Konde advised children to excel in their academics in order to become responsible citizens in future. He advocated for more assistance from donors in order to enable more vulnerable children access education.
