Geoffrey Mukisa, the estranged lover of ex-MP for Rubaga south, Susan Nampijja is dead. Mukisa is said to have passed on at about 3.45am on Thursday at Mulago Referral Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

The Hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Dan Kimosho confirmed that Mukisa died after his health condition deteriorated since he was admitted on January 29.

Mukisa has been under tight guard in hospital after the police arrested him as suspect number one in the attack on Nampijja and two other people, Nampijja’s niece, Shakira Namutebi and Harriet Kisaakye, a housemaid on Saturday night, January 28. The incident took place at their home in Kitebi, a Kampala suburb.

The attacker used a machete and cut Nampijja at about 10.00PM as she moved out of her car at home. He later used the same tool to hack the two girls who came to her rescue. They were left unconscious but neighbors who heard the screams came to their rescue and rushed them to Rubaga Hospital from where they were referred to Case Hospital.

Namutebi said she saw Mukisa, whom she referred to as Uncle Jeff stabbing their auntie and pleaded for her mercy in vain. She said she used a stone to hit him but instead attacked her too.

The police the next day picked Mukisa from SB Lodge along Salaama Road after he allegedly took poison. He was unconscious and was rushed to Mulago Hospital but he was later admitted in the Intensive care Unit. He has never recovered till he met his death.

The police said they were preparing to prefer charged of attempted murder against Mukisa after leaving the hospital
Nampijja’s father, Ken Lukyamuzi said Thursday morning that he had been briefly informed about Mukisa’s death but did not have details.

He said Nampijja was steadily recovering but doctors had decided to continue observing her condition from hospital. He said she was better, able to talk and recognize people.

The hospital public relations officer, Bobil Williams had said Nampijja was ready to be discharged after her condition improved.

The two are said to have met at Makerere University and lived together after school until Nampijja was elected as MP.
