The former Rubaga South legislator, Susan Nampijja who was hacked by her ex-lover in a night attack is said to be in good condition and would soon be discharged from hospital.

Doctors at Case Hospital on Monday declared Nampijja’s life out of danger and removed her from the Intensive Care Unit back to her private room on Floor Six.

However they were still observing her condition and discouraged her from talking to visitors and relatives.

Nampijja, daughter to the incumbent Rubaga South MP, Ken Lukyamuzi was on the night of January 28 attacked at her home in Kitebi, a Kampala suburb together with her niece Shakira Namutebi (14) and a housemaid, Harriet Kisakye.

The three sustained injuries on the head and admitted at Rubaga Hospital from where they were transferred to Case Hospital.

The day following the attack, Police arrested Nampijja’s former lover, Geoffrey Mukisa from SB Lodge along Salaama road, Munyonyo and was admitted in Mulago Hospital after he attempted to commit suicide.

Williams Bobil, the hospital public relations manager said the two girls had been discharged from the hospital on Monday and were much improved. He added that the duo was able to walk on their own, talk and eat and doctors decided to send them back home.

“Nampijja is also better. She can now eat and chat with doctors though they still discourage her from receiving visitors, but we hope to release her Tuesday morning or evening,” Bobil explained.

Trauma

Hospital counselors however advised her not to return to her home in Kitebi saying ‘the scene of crime might traumatize her’.

They suggested she be taken to her father’s home or any other convenient home of her choice to enable her heal both physically and psychologically.

“We always advise such patients not to be taken back to such violent scenes of crime,” Bobil said.

Her sister, Lillian Lukyamuzi said the family members were happy that she was recovering from the injuries but said they were still not allowed to freely engage her in a conversation.

Nampijja is said to have fallen out with Mukisa over ownership of two houses in Makindye and their home in Kitebi.

Her father, Ken Lukyamuzi maintained that the property belonged to his daughter, which she acquired after her election into Parliament and claimed that Mukisa had no shares.
