Kobs continued their dominance at the summit of the Nile Special rugby league with 15 points, only a point ahead of rivals Heathens when they whipped Rhinos 48-3 over the weekend.

The Nile vs Mongers game was called off due to the death of Nile team captain Felix Azibo who was killed in a motor accident on Friday in Nakasogola.

 At Kyadondo Rugby Club, defending champions Heathens suffered a massive setback when they were denied a bonus point by their junior side Buffaloes on Saturday.

Heathens narrowly survived defeat when they staggered to an 18-16 victory over Buffaloes who dominated the game having eight turn overs when Heathens thought of taking advantage of its mass forwards applying the pick and drive (PDs) tactics.

Buffaloes’ Robert Seguya and man-of-the-match made several assists and hard tackles that denied his former employers a much-needed bonus point and handed Buffaloes one for losing within seven points.

Brian Kikawa scored two tries and Romano Ogwal a try and Jude Keremundu managed a penalty for Heathens while Saidi Atibu scored a try with Philip Wokorach adding three penalties and a conversion.

“We knew that they will make use of their forwards through the PDs and we worked on it. We cannot say we want the trophy but we want to be among the top contenders,” a smiling Buffaloes coach Tolbert Onyango remarked.

At Kampala Rugby Club, Xfm Impis were whipped 20-0 but denied their hosts Pirates a bonus point after failing to score four tries.

Jude Kiirya, Marvin Odong and Denis Etucket scored a try each while Juma Hillary and Ivan Magomu added a penalty and conversion respectively.
