THE Crested Cranes has bowed out of the Africa women football championship qualifiers 5-1 on aggregate after losing 4-0 to DR Congo in the second leg of the preliminary match in Kinshasa on Saturday. The first leg in Kampala ended in draw 1-1 on January 14.

The Crested Cranes coach Majidah Nantanda blamed the loss on lack of concentration by her inexperienced team which were shaky throughout the match.

“My players, lacked concentration from the word go and they actually feared the match. The Congo team we played in Kinsasha was quite different from the side we had in Kampala. They added new faces of widely experienced players,” Nantanda commented after the match.

Nantanda however believes that her side can patiently wait and do do better in the next Africa women qualifiers campaign.

“They are still young players and we shall continue working on them as we prepare for the next campaign.”

The Ugandan Ambassador to Congo, Rt. Major James Kinobe met the players after the match and encouraged them to remain focused.

“You have played an experienced side but you too, can acquire that experience to trounce then next time” said the Ambassador who gave the team all the support while in Congo.
