Kobs wallop Nile to leads rugby league table

IT was a walk in the park for Kobs as they thumped helpless Jinja based Nile rugby club 97-0 in the Nile Special rugby League at Kampala rugby club.

New recruit Ronald Musajja was on top of his form scoring two tries after tearing apart the Nile defence single handedly.

 The muscular 90kg center handed-off four defenders to score his two tries of the day exciting the national team coach Yayiro Kasasa.

“This boy is an asset and I think national coaches need to start monitoring him,” Kasasa stated.

Timothy Kabonero, Ibra Nyango, Timothy Kamanyire and Ronnie Lutakome and joseph Okot scored a try each while Kevin Makmot managed four conversions to end half time 38-0.

In the second half Kobs’ coach Fred Mudoola reinforced his charges by substituting Adrian Bukenya for Timothy Mudoola, Brian Odong for Bob Bibagamba.

Steven Ogwete, Isaac Lutwama, Paul Barigye, Victor Wadia, Timothy Mudoola, James Ijongati and Oscar Kalyango added a try each while, joseph Aredo  managed to six conversions to seal the score 97-0.

“This is a good beginning if we are to achieve our main target of recapturing our title. At least we have gauged the fitness levels of every player and I’m confident the title is ours,” team Captain Brian Odong said after the game.

In Entebbe at the house of pain, hosts Mongers were 10-3 victors over Rhinos. Adrian Waswa scored a try conversion and penalty.

At kyadondo rugby club, defending champions Heathens out matched Xfm sponsored Makerere Impis with 59-3 thumping.

Kobs, Heathens have 5points each but Kobs leads the table on try difference, while Pirates (4pts) and Mongers (4pts) are third and fourth respectively.
