The Siamese twins who were recently admitted at Mulago national referral hospital in the capital Kampala have died.
The twins died on Wednesday at around 1am, a nurse who was in charge of their treatment told New Vision.
The hospital spokesperson, Dan Kimosho last week said they were in good health. He added that the twins were feeding well on breast milk.
The female twins, born at seven months, were joined at the chest and abdomen up to the umbilical cord.
According to Kimisho, medical examination was meant to begin when the babies were nine months.
The twins were born to 19-year-old Agnes Anyait and Augustine Ojangole, 23, of Ngora district at Kumi hospital. They were admitted at Mulago’s Special Care Unit on Ward 5B. They weighed 4.2 kilogrammes.
They were a second pair of Siamese twins admitted to Mulago hospital in a period of four months after the Kabale male twins who were joined at the abdomen and were successfully separated at a hospital in Egypt.
