Poles without power are useless to us

I wish to thank the Government for the rural electrification programme. This is in reference to the state energy minister’s statement where he indicated that 5% of rural homes have power.

This Christmas, I was in my home area in Ibare, Rugyeya in Bumbaire where power has just been extended to them. For sure everyone was happy.

However, I wish to inform the minister or whoever is in charge that while same power was extended to Kyabugimbi trading centre in Bushenyi district three years ago, schools and churches like Kihumuro have never been connected although there are poles lined up some two miles deep into the villages along the main supply line.

In fact this is threatening the re-election of the current leadership of the area in the general elections next year.

The rural electrification programme is good but it should not be touted for political capital. The poles without power are useless.
concerned to help us.
