ARE you bothered by how you can create interest and inject passion in your home?

Do not torture yourself, think of red. It is a colour known for its brightness and can significantly transform any area or item. It is the colour of passion.

Red is the most dominant of all colours. It is warm and powerful, which when used in any quantity, can draw in surroundings and make them stand out.

Used properly, red can make objects become focal points wherever they are placed.

Even functional objects can be transformed into decorative features, with a coat of glossy red, for instance, a narrow strip on a wooden item painted red, throw back cushions dressed in red covers, or chair covers in a sitting room. They instantly give a fresh beckoning appeal.

To give a room a new look without much hustle, rich red works particularly well in dining rooms used for formal meals in the evenings. Having the illumination of light on the red area produces a beautiful and inviting fusion.

In the bedrooms, red can be introduced in form of lights, beddings, rags, flowers and for dominance, in curtains.

Red is welcoming colour for large hallways and landings, making these areas feel warmer and smaller since they seem to draw the walls closer.

In the same way, a chair upholstered in red looks bigger and more important than one with deep blue upholstery in a sitting room.

For lasting effect, red can be combined with cream, yellow, brown, blue, pink and some green.

It is also good because it does not show dirt and can be easily sponged clean.

Red can also fit all-over carpet designs and easily resonates with a variety of backgrounds.

A red carpet gives that much needed warmth and softness that can benefit a cold room.

To add a spark to the room, contrast red with furnishings and with a lot of white or cream painted accessories. You can also introduce red in the form of shelves.

An old table or a trunk will look very nice if painted in a deep shade of red.
If you are going to have red on the walls, then avoid using too many boldly patterned fabrics in one room.

The room will look shady and closed in.
A bit of red here and there will add warmth and beauty to your interiors while ensuring they are inviting.
