THE Police in Kampala have arrested seven people who are suspected to be behind several robberies that recently took place in Kabowa, a city suburb, on Entebbe Road. The suspects were arrested on Monday night and detained at Katwe Police Station.

Addressing the press at the station, Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba said the suspects allegedly surveyed their targets during the day and committed the crimes at night.
The Police recovered three television sets, a pair of army boots and a toy pistol, which the suspects allegedly used to terrorise residents.

Nabakooba disclosed that the gang was nabbed by a combined force of the Police and residents of Nakayiza, Nsike and Bulange villages. She praised the residents for their support, saying they had embraced community policing.

“I don’t think without their participation we would have achieved much. It is clear that the community is crucial in combating crime,” Nabakooba said.

Meanwhile, the Police in Kampala have recovered five boda bodas which were reportedly stolen between September last year and January this year.

The boda bodas are parked at Kampala Central Police Station. Nabakooba asked people who lost their boda bodas to go to the station with supporting document.
