By Oyet Okwera A FLAT iron is a basic necessity in a home. Though it is used to keep clothes neat, the flat iron is sometimes mishandled and it dirtens clothes.
To keep the iron clean, avoid ironing wet clothes because it makes the dirt that remains on the clothes dry on the iron.
Clean the bottom of your flat iron using panadol tablets.
Heat the flat iron a bit and then rub the affected area with panadol as you clean with a cloth.
However, Stephen Oluka, a specialist in electric appliance, says caution should be observed when cleaning the flat iron.
He says panadol should not be rubbed when the flat iron is connected to power since the moisture can culminate into an electric shock.
Oluka warns that using water could also cause shock.
When cleaning, the windows should be opened because the burning effect of panadol can choke.
Having cleaned the flat iron, avoid ironing wet clothes because they are responsible for the dirt underneath it.
