VALLEY dam contractors who do shoddy work will be blacklisted, a top official warned this week.

Lt. Col. Bright Rwamirama, the agriculture state minister, also insisted that contractors must observe the highest level of standards in their individual projects.

The minister was on Tuesday meeting stakeholders for the Rakai-based Kibanda valley dam project which was undertaken by Spencon Construction Services.

The meeting followed media reports early this week that the sh1.2b dam, which was supposed to be commissioned had been rejected by the district authorities.

The authorities reportedly queried the height of the dam, saying it was too low.

However, the minister exonerated Spencon of any wrongdoing after a lengthy meeting attended by the ministry engineers and consultants.

Rwamirama explained that his team had studied the contents in bills of quantities and established that Spencon acted according to the designs laid by the consultants.

The minister said the dam was built as per the designed capacity of 14 million litres.
