AFTER introducing their latest soda brand, Novida Schweppes, to the public through media and sample distributions, last Friday evening was time for the Coca Cola Company to officially launch the brand in Uganda.

In the lush gardens of Kampala Serena Hotel, the Coca Cola team, led by country manager, Stephen Okeyo, unveiled their latest soda in style.

In a symbolic inauguration act, the country manager pulled off the textile shroud from the brand, unveiling a towering bottle-shaped monument built from hundreds of Novida bottles, exciting guests comprising various corporate dignitaries, government representatives, businessmen and the press.

Quoting the new product’s slogan, ‘Get Lifted’, Okeyo said the product is specially made for ‘trendy young adults, who constitute the bulk of enthusiasts of non-alcoholic malt-based drinks.’
He explained that the soda’s name Novida, which means ‘New Life’, is meant to reflect Coca Cola’s global strategic move to meet the ever changing consumer demands and taste.

After the official unveiling, it was party time, as Novida, other Coca Cola products, alcohol drinks and dishes drowned the venue for guests to have their fill.

Artistes such as Cindy, Radio and Weasel, Toniks and Bobi Wine with his Fire Base Crew spiced up the event.
Guests had the opportunity of taking samples of the soda for their accomplices back home, walking off with packs of six bottles and other gifts from Coca Cola.

Novida comes in two light fruit flavours of pineapple and orange. It is also bottled in 300 millilitre bottles. Its retail price is sh700 a bottle.
