MABEL Nakiganda of Gayaza High School was sickly and thought this would affect her performance. Her father, Patrick Ssembatya, who accompanied her to The New Vision offices in Kampala said she often fell sick during examinations.

“My daughter was sick during the Primary Leaving Examinations. This time I was worried when she fell sick again. I am happy she has made it,” Ssembatya said. Nakiganda scored aggregate 11 in eight subjects.

She said she hopes to study biology, chemistry, mathematics and nutrition.
“I want to become a cardiologist. We have few cardiologists in the country and many patients with heart problems,” she said.

Nakiganda said her brother, a veterinary doctor, with UgaChick inspired her to study hard.

“I attribute my success to him and my parents who encouraged me to read hard.”
