FEEDBACK

Dear Editor,

The article published in The New Vision Woman Achiever series on Tuesday, January 26, brought me so much joy.

Dr. Margaret Nakakeeto is a real achiever. She helped save my twin boys Mark and Malcolm in October 2007.

They were delivered by C-Section at seven months at Mulago hospital. The boys were very tiny, especially Mark, who weighed one kilogramme.

We were admitted to the special care unit which Nakakeeto headed. She introduced us to the Kangaroo mother care.

Nakakeeto was a life saver because we did not have the money to pay for private incubators.

Kangaroo helped me bond with my babies and also get used to them because I was a new mother and was very scared of them due to their size.

Nakakeeto also followed up on our progress after we were discharged. She has become a personal friend and is my children’s paediatrician.

While in the special care unit, I witnessed a miraculous recoveries of premature babies who were also on kangaroo treatment.
If it was not for Nakakeeto’s work, I would have no good story to tell. I thank God for her work and commitment.

Margaret Lukowe
