THE Police in Kasese have arrested a special Police constable attached to Kikongoro Police Post, over attempted murder. The western regional Police spokesperson, Elly Matte, identified the suspect as Muganda Baruku, a resident of Mubuku trading centre.

Matte said Baruku was assigned a gun for duty, but he instead went to a nearby bar, drank himself silly and started shooting aimlessly.

In the process, he shot Kenneth Kule and injured him seriously. Kule was admitted at Kilembe hospital.

in a related incident, Alfred Achikane, a special police constable attached to Jinja Road Police Station, was last week charged with five counts of attempted murder at the Nakawa Court for allegedly shooting and injuring local musician Moses Ssali, alias Bebe Cool.

In another development, the Kasese Police are also holding an 18-year-old for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl.
Matte identified the suspect as Yapiri Kaseruka, a resident of Nyakasojo in Rukoki sub-county.

He said Kaseruka, a night watchman, is alleged to have entered the victim’s house and found the minor alone. He is said to have pretended he was taking care of her before defiling her.

Matte added that the suspect is in Police custody, pending prosecution. Meanwhile, the Police in Kamwenge are holding two brothers on allegations of murdering their father.

Matte identified the suspects as Medard Matsiko, 24, a resident of Kijojoro in Mubende district, and Francis Rumanyika, 32, of Kabwegemera in Kamwenge district.

He said Matsiko and Rumanyika allegedly hit their father, Benon Katamujuna, 50, a resident of Busiriba in Kamwenge district, with a hoe after he refused to give them a piece of land.
