PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has advised the youth to respect marriage, saying the institution is the source of life.

“Finding the right partner is the greatest thing in life because that is what life is about. If you are married and blessed with children, life continues. All other things such as education and property are facilitation of life,” he said.

Museveni was speaking during at the wedding of Pascal Mujasi and Pauline Kalule at Christ the King Church on Saturday. Kalule is the daughter of former Gomba county MP Kalule Sengo.

The President also urged parents and guardians to send their children into marriage with reasonable gifts to allow them start comfortable lives.

“You cannot just ‘escort’ your children by swinging your arms,” he said.

“This girl is my daughter and since she is getting married, I am escorting her,” he added as he gave the couple two cows.

Fr. Expedito Magembe, who presided over the mass, appealed to married couples to be persistent in times of challenges.

He also appealed to them to show love to one another.
