TORNADO B could determine the next chairman when the Uganda Cricket Association goes to polls February 27 at Lugogo.

Association secretary Enoch Barumba will take on his chairman Dr. Kato Sebbaale for the top seat in an election which has already caused divisions with in the local cricket fraternity.

According to observers, the race has also become a battle between clubs with Nile, KICC and Premier behind Barumba’s bid, while Tornado, Jinja based JACC, Wanderers and Africa Cricket Club are behind Sebbaale. Barumba is a Nile delegate while Ssebbaale represents Africa.

“Both camps are now fighting for Tornado B’s votes. The one who gets those votes will take the day,” said a cricket source.

Tornado B is led by former chairman William KibuukaMusoke, who was beaten by Sebbaale in the elections two years ago. It remains to be seen whether Musoke will support his former rival.

Last week, the UCA council blocked two clubs Patidar and SKLPS bid to become full members with voting rights, after they failed to fulfil the requirements.
