Angry residents of Nankulyaku parish, Nabwigulu sub-county in Kamuli district, lynched a man suspected to have hacked his two children to death.

The man was indentified as William Matege, a father of four.

The area regional Police spokesman, Samson Lubega, identified the dead children as Sam Sanga, 11 and Willy Matege, 12.

Lubega said Matege reportedly wanted to kill all the four children, but the others escaped and made an alarm that alerted the neighbours.

He said the neighbours responded to the alarm and attacked Matege using stones and clubs, killing him on the spot.

The Police said deep wounds were inflicted on the victim’s heads.

They added that Matege was a drug addict, had divorced his wife and confined his children to the house.

“Matege was well-known for being short-tempered. He used to beat up his children,” Lubega said.
