COLLINS James Okumu of Naalya Secondary School, who scored AAAA in physics, economic, mathematics and entrepreneurship, and got a pass in general paper, benefited from the school bursary scheme because of his good academic performance.
The 19-year-old Okumu remarked with joy that he is not surprised that he got 24 points in last year’s UACE.
“I read hard and prayed to God. I would read past papers, discuss with friends, consult my teachers and do research. I was allowed to pay half of the school fees because of my good academic performance,†Okumu explained. “I want to do telecommunication engineering at Makerere University,†Okumu said.
Okumu’s father, who is a Police inspector, Joel Loum, described his son’s good performance as a great relief, saying he will benefit from the Government sponsorship programme.
The headmaster of Nalya SS, Moses Ssenyonjo, said Okumu got a bursary because of good discipline and academic performance.
