ANGRY residents of Kawempe on Thursday criticised their leaders for failing to deliver on their promises to address the problems of floods and garbage.

The leaders received the bashing during the launch of the Makerere Women Development Association (MAWDA)at Christian Life Church, in Bwaise, organised by the Kawempe South MP, Sebuliba Mutumba.

The meeting was meant to raise issues affecting the local people, including floods, garbage and waste management, sewerage, health and housing.

‘‘We are tired of the empty promises made by our leaders. People are dying every day because of negligence,” said Asiya Mwanje, a resident.

The LCIII chairman, Nasser Kibirige Takuba, was accused of not delivering on his promises. He, however, said not all problems could be solved at the same time and urged them to be patient.

He added that the World Bank had granted $2.5m for the construction of the drainage system.
