THE Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a security guard in a city suburb over the weekend.

Joseph Kirabye, attached to Alert Guards, a private security organisation, was found dead yesterday morning.

Kirabye, who had been deployed to guard Atlas Cargo, a business firm in Kireka, is believed to have been strangled.

Kampala deputy Police spokesman Henry Kalulu yesterday said the thugs also stole a vehicle and office equipment.

“They took with them five central processing units, three monitors, one laptop and a scanner. The guard’s gun was found about 40 metres away from the body,” he said.

This is the second time thugs have raided the Atlas Cargo office in just two weeks. The first time was on February 14 when they made off with three central processing units and sh500,000.

The suspect, Baker Semuju, 32, is a resident of Kitintale zone who the Police said owns a computer shop at Aziz complex in the city.

A Mitsubishi pajero, which the suspect was driving at the time of arrest was also impounded.
