The army has stopped giving escorts to organisations or individuals who do not provide a pick-up truck.
They attribute the death of a policeman and two civilians in a Nakapiripirit ambush three weeks ago to transporting personnel in a vehicle without room to fight the assailants.
The UPDF 3rd division spokesperson, Capt. Henry Obbo, on Monday said the minimum requirement for escorts is a pick-up truck.
“To give you our soldiers, you must have at least a pick-up where a soldier can act freely in case of an attack,†he said.
Obbo advised travellers to Karamoja not to have escorts, saying warriors use the opportunity to steal the arms carried by the escorts.
