Be alert, Bududa isn’t the last disaster

I wish to thank the Red Cross team on the ground and the UPDF and all other contributors. But where are the big and successful companies to help raise the badly needed funds at this hour of need? Whenever organisations arrange for workshops, seminars and conferences, the money is given to a certain group of companies who have made big money. I expected such companies to be the first in giving big aid to these disaster victims! I am not jealous but would like to encourage any company in Uganda to have Uganda at heart whenever a disaster of the Bududa magnitude strikes.

As for the ministry of disaster preparedness, I think there is need to be more prepared because disaster can strike any time. The ministry should not sit on its laurels but do feasibility studies of all potential risks to Ugandans and prepare for any eventuality.

The Bududa tragedy has claimed many precious lives but it is not the only tragedy that can happen. We need to be patriotic enough and demonstrate solidarity for our our country. May God bless everyone in action in Bududa.
