The Police has arrested over 50 taxi operators in an operation to streamline traffic flow in Masaka town.

The Police has arrested over 50 taxi operators in an operation to streamline traffic flow in Masaka town. The vehicles impounded last week, are being kept at the Masaka Police barracks. The acting district Police commander, Titus Byaruhanga, said the Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura, ordered the operation. Byaruhanga said most of the taxi operators were arrested for over-loading of passengers.

KCC leases taxi park land
KAMPALA

Kampala City Council has leased over one hectare of the New Taxi Park to shop owners. According to the award letter signed by the town clerk, Ruth Kijjambu, the lease was given to the owners of the New Taxi Park shops, under the New Taxi Park Lock-up Owners Association. The developers were directed to pay land premium of sh2.24b and ground rent of sh56m.
