ANOTHER school in Kibaale district has been gutted by fire a day after an inferno destroyed students’ property at St. Edwards’ Secondary School, Bukumialso in the same district.

This time, dormitory at Good Hope Parents’ Primary School in Kagadi town was burnt to ashes on Friday. The matron, Betty Katusabe, said the fire started from an electric bulb from one corner of the building before spreading to the entire dormitory.

“We were seated with some teachers and all of a sudden we saw fire coming from the roof of the middle dormitory,” she said.

No one was hurt, since all the occupants of the dormitory were participating in an athletics competitions at Kagadi playground when fire broke out.

The acting head of Kagadi Police Station, Eric Wabwire, said: “We rushed to the scene but could not help much because we had no fire extinguishers. Luckily we got assistance from a nearby fuel station whose staff rushed in with some extinguishers.”

Meanwhile, Bukuumi students whose property was burnt, have received of beddings and scholastic materials from EMESCO development foundation, a non-governmental organisation.

Emily Kugonza of EMESCO said the donation was in response to an appeal made by the school head teacher, Deodat Aganyira, after the property of 36 students was destroyed in the fire recently.
