KAMPALA - A man who was allegedly shot by the Military Police while chasing an ADF rebel escapee has sued the Government, seeking compensation.

Livingstone Kivumbi, 30, wants an award of sh150m for the injuries he suffered that left him impotent and confined to a wheelchair.

He alleges that his wife also abandoned him after he became impotent. According to Kivumbi, while the Military Police were chasing a suspected ADF rebel who had escaped from their barracks at Makindye in 2006, they shot and injured him as he was at home with his wife and child.

He says their house is located behind the barracks. According to the court record, the Attorney General was served with the plaint on February 11, but he has not filed a reply.

Through Kizito, Lumu and Company Advocates, Kivumbi is also seeking an award of damages and interest of 30% on all the money the court may award him plus the costs of the suit.
