AFRICA soccer governing body CAF has brought forward the Uganda versus Zambia U-17 Africa Championship qualifier to April 9 at Nakivubo stadium. The game was originally supposed to be played on April 10.
Speaking at the FUFA weekly press conference at Mengo yesterday, FUFA technical director Asuman Lubowa confirmed the change of date because of the availability of Nakivubo stadium.
The federation was forced to request CAF for the change because Nakivubo stadium had already been booked for another match.
Nakivubo management last week asked FUFA to adjust the date because the stadium had been booked for a friendly match between Cranes ex-internationals and their Saudi Arabian counterparts.
The U-17 team that has been in non-residential training at Kisubi for the last two weeks enters camp at Nabinonya today.
Uganda U-17 are CECAFA champions. They beat Eritrea in the final in Khartoum Sudan, last year.
“The team is doing well and enters camp tomorrow to fine tune for the match. But we don’t know when Zambia is arriving. They are yet to communicate,†Lubowa told the press.
