THE movie, Wages of Sin, stands out uniquely as the pioneer local gospel movie. The two-hour long film exposes the trickery, treachery, outright theft and deceit of some born-again pastors, who have made it their job to defraud their unsuspecting flock of huge sums of money and property.

The plot is about Kalema, a prominent city pastor, whose sole work is to preach the gospel. His Christians donate less money, which is not sufficient to meet his needs. Kalema resorts to extorting money from them through organised spiritual trickery.

One of his victims is Madam, a wealthy family lady. When Madam goes to Kalema for counselling, the latter tricks her and gets all the information about her. He then uses her security guard to plant fetishes in her compound.

Kalema later deceives Madam that the fetishes were planted by her enemies and asks for money to destroy them.
But as fate would have it, Kalema, who later changes his name to Fereyambi, winds up falling out with the security guard, after failing to agree on how to share the money that they got from Madam.

A fight ensues and Kalema is beaten into a coma hence the title, Wage of Sin is Death.’
