I have failed to conceive

Dear Dr,
I am 25 years old. I have been with my boyfriend for two years now. When we had just met we used to have protected sex, but stopped using condoms after doing an HIV test.

He has a child from an earlier relationship, but I have failed to get pregnant. I have my regular periods and have never aborted. What can I do? Is there any medication to speed up ovulation?
Jasmin

Dear Jasmin,
You should consult a gynaecologist. Doctors usually start investigating infertility in a couple if the woman fails to concieve after a year.
It is best for both of you to consult the doctor together.

The fact that your boyfriend has a child from a previous relationship does not mean that he cannot be infertile now. You should not assume that but let your gynaecologist make the necessary investigation.

You should not take any medication to speed up ovulation’ without a gynaecologist’s advice. They are useful for a particular kind of infertility, but not for all. Please see a gynaecologist to explain what the problem could be.
